Information For Potential Authors

What subjects does Bitwise cover?
If you read Bitwise regularly you probably already have a good idea. We carry features, tutorials, opinion and reviews of anything that might interest technically literate readers. That includes: programming, web development, scientific and mathematical software, computer graphics, video and audio, internet technologies, gadgets, gizmos, trends and developments. Maybe you can suggest a topic that we haven’t covered yet. We are always open to good ideas….

What qualifications should an author have?
Knowledge of the subject and an ability to write clearly and enthusiastically on that subject.

I have a product, can I send you a review of it?
No thanks. All our reviews are impartial. You may want to send us a product for review but the only reviews we print are written by people with no business interest in those products.

Do you have a style sheet?
No. There is no fixed ‘magazine style’. We prefer our writers to have their own style of writing. If you need guidance on stylistic matters, please ask us and we will gladly provide it.

What format of screen shots do you use?
Screen shots can be in JPEG, GIF or BMP format. Please check that they are crisp and clear before you send them. The maximum width of pictures is 500 pixels. Generally we prefer that you grab a shot of the relevant portion of the screen rather than of the entire screen. If you want to take a picture of the whole screen, please grab at full screen size (don’t reduce it) and we will reduce it to fit ourselves.
